Reshaping Redwell Street to reach St Andrews Plain to facilitate the trams

One of the many challenges facing the engineers planning tram routes through the City was how (and indeed where) to run a track from Agricultural Hall Plain to St Benedict’s, from where it was to take passengers out along Dereham Road. After much debate it was decided to build a direct link between Redwell Street and St Andrew’s Street, As can be clearly seen the planners didn’t let trivialities, such as buildings, get in their way.
